What you want
Your dream job is usually that — a dream. Otherwise, you’d simply call it a job. The desired position may pay better, have better hours, have better social benefits, or just be closer to where you live. We all have our preferences and goals to aspire to. These are the things we need from our potential employer, but what about the things the employer needs from us? You know, things like skills and experience? These should also be factored in.
The obstacle
People usually know what they want to achieve from their dream job but they lack the knowledge of how to land it. The process is long. It entails meeting the right people from the desired field, knowing how to write an engaging CV that will stand out in a sea of applicants, and acing job interviews. Unfortunately, no one in school or in college will teach you how to do that.
The way out
The answer is simple — online courses and entry-level positions. Now when people spend more time at home and mostly rely on their laptops, there is no reason why you can’t find the answers to everything you need online. Use the help of an online course to write a kickass CV, and then look for an online course that will help you meet the right people through LinkedIn. As for the experience, you’ll find that as an entry-level employee. Career is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Don’t apply for any managerial positions right away, but start small with a less-optimal position in the desired field and climb your way up.
