Just before Grayson’s first birthday, Katie received the biggest gift of all, and her dream of becoming a mother, and an official one, now came true. It all happened on May 25th, 2017 and Grayson was now Grayson Page. This was a new chapter in life both for Katie and her boy. She was thrilled and Grayson felt loved and secure. Katie felt this was not a good time to welcome any more children and wanted to strengthen the bond with her son. Boy was she wrong.
Katie was full of love to spread around and she could embrace others if needed, however, she wanted to take the time and give all the attention she had to Grayson. Because of his condition following his biological mother’s habits, he was fragile. She enveloped herself around him, secured and assured him that she will always be with him no matter what. And then her phone rang.
Her Full Family
Katie's family seemed to be complete. She had a toddler running around, a newborn baby by her side and her dear mother to help clean up all the mess. Katie was finally content and felt her life had meaning. Over time, the little toddler was moved to a permanent family and Katie was left to bring up Grayson. During all of this time, the local authorities tried to find Grayson's biological family or some other connection to his past.
The only information they had was the biological mother's first name and date of birth. Everyone was doing their best and really going out of their way to find some more information, unaware of what was about to happen. Sooner or later, Katie and the social workers came to terms with the fact that Grayson's mother was nowhere to be found. Perhaps she didn't want to be found. Katie was heartbroken for the baby.
Split in Two
On one hand, she was thrilled that Grayson was still with her as she loved every moment of being with him. However, on the other hand, she was devastated for him. How could anyone abandon such a small precious baby? Why should Grayson deal with rejection at such a young age, and with knowing that his mother didn't want him?
Grayson was not like all the other foster children that came under Katie's roof. He made her a different woman, and for that, she had a great connection with him and she cared for him dearly. Katie needed him just as much as he needed her. She knew deep inside that it was their fate and that she was intended to be Grayson's mother. But how could she make this official?
Here Comes Number Two
There was another child in need. Grayson's adoption papers had bearly gone through and now there was another baby that needed a foster home. It was a little baby girl and the authorities knew Katie was fit for the job. Ironically enough, this little baby girl was suffering from the same symptoms Grayson had when he was born following the habits his biological mother had.
Although Katie wasn't very keen on bringing a new child into her family, she found it very difficult to refuse. She knew that if the authorities were nagging her and pleading for her help, the poor little baby was obviously desperate. She knew what was the right thing to do, but she couldn't stop thinking about the challenges that would come her way having two children under the age of two in her home. Saying all that, she agreed to take the baby in.
It Was No Suprise
Katie knew what to expect. She knew what it meant to have a newborn with the same symptoms Grayson had and she didn't feel threatened or scared. A lot of the baby's behavior was very familiar to her and there was something else that was very familiar too. There was something about this little baby girl that wouldn't leave Katie alone, but she couldn't put her finger on it. A few days later, it finally hit her. It was the baby's birth certificate.
Katie remembered that when she reviewed the baby's papers, the biological mother's name seemed familiar. And it was. It was the same name as on Grayson's certificate. What were the odds that Grayson's birth mother and the little baby girl's mother had the same name? To double-check herself, Katie decided to find Grayson's birth certificate, not knowing that she would discover some more unreal details.
