Picture-Perfect?
Although “Friends” ended in 2004, it’s still considered one of the best sitcoms ever to make it onto television. It seems that as the years go by, it’s increasing in popularity. “Friends” introduced Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, and Courteney Cox into the limelight. Everyone had their favorite character; women wanted their hair cut like Rachel, while others enjoyed the carefreeness that Pheobe embodied. However, it appears that Lisa Kudrow’s experience on the set of “Friends” wasn’t as perfect as we may have initially thought.
Opening Up
Lisa Kudrow was asked to talk on Marc Maron’s podcast, and she admitted to struggles with her body image while on set. She explained that while working on “Friends,” she would often compare herself to her Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox. She would look at her costars, comparing her flaws to their perfections. Kudrow would see them as extremely slim and beautiful women, and when she looked at herself on screen, she would see someone who was much larger.
Less of a Woman
Kudrow couldn’t help but feel like “less of a woman,” considering how much “larger” she was than her costars. Because of this, she would lose weight on purpose to feel better about herself, and the more weight she lost, the more compliments she received. Compliments from both strangers and people who knew her heightened the idea that she needed to be thin to be beautiful. Putting those days behind her, Lisa has put weight back on and feels more beautiful than ever before!
