Volunteers and authorities alike had spent nearly two days searching the spacious woodland area in order to find any signs of Charlee. At this point, 100 people and first responders had volunteered to locate her whereabouts.
And yet, not one person had managed to find one single sign that Charlee had stepped foot in this part of town. Luck really didn’t seem to be on their side. While they continued to search, the community was beginning to lose hope that they might never find her. It didn’t help when the sun started to set, and the sky turned pitch black.
Tell the Sheriff
It was a matter of time before the authorities started to dive deep into Charlee’s disappearance. The Southeast Bullitt Fire Department and local police were working tooth and nail to locate her. The sheriff was on the case, as well as a range of search crews.
Bloodhounds had also been dispatched to search for Charlee. Because there was a pretty large woodland in this part of the world, many assumed that Charlee may have gone missing in this spacious area. So, it made sense for the authorities to spend a large part of the search in the woods. But that’s not all…
Even the Feds Got Involved
News of Charlee’s disappearance started to stretch across the country. Even the Federal Bureau of Investigations – better known as the FBI – got involved at one point. In an interview with "INSIDER," Scotty McGaha of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office said that they had “interviewed several family members…during the search, along with the FBI.”
It was clear that the search was being treated with the utmost seriousness. People on the other side of the country and beyond were now aware of what was going on. But the question remained – was all of this going to bring Charlee back to her grandmother?
What About Her Parents?
At this stage of the story, you might be wondering where Charlee’s parents were when all of this was happening. It certainly would provide some more context as to why Charlee was living with Beth, to begin with. But the truth was that Charlee’s mother, Natalie, as well as her great-grandmother Lisa, were nothing short of heartbroken by the news.
We can ask ourselves where they were during that fateful moment were that Charlee disappeared, but time was really of the essence. At this point, no one was thinking about pointing fingers at each other. They just wanted this little girl to be found and safe.
Mom Will Never Give Up
There is no denying that Charlee’s family was going through so much pain during this period of uncertainty – especially Natalie. In an interview, she claimed that she would never give up trying to find her daughter, even if it meant searching for the rest of her life.
“She was out there all night last night. I won't stop until she's found,” she said. “I don't care if the dogs have searched and no scent. I don't care. I'll look until she comes back or something.” But even though these words came just two days in, you just never know how long these searches might take…
