Sony Pictures brought a new adaptation of the children’s classic, “Matilda,” to cinemas. Shortly after debuting on the big screens in the UK, the movie was added as a part of Netflix’s collection.
The movie is based on “Matilda The Musical,” seeing as the show has had an incredible reception, getting 10 nominations (the maximum amount possible) at the 2012 Olivier Awards.
Famous artist Tim Minchin wrote the words and lyrics and said that working on the musical “has been one of the greatest thrills of my life.”
This timeless Roald Dahl classic is not the only story that will be available on Netflix. The content streaming giant has been working on adaptations of a series of Dahl’s favorite works, including “The Witches,” “The Twits,” “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator,” “The BFG,” “George’s Marvellous Medicine,” “The Giraffe” and the “Pelly and Me,” “Henry Sugar,” “The Magic Finger,” “Rhyme Stew,” and many more.
The vice-president of kids and family content at Netflix, Melissa Cobb, commented on the recent development saying, “Immersing ourselves in the extraordinary worlds of Roald Dahl stories has been an honor and a massive amount of fun, and we are grateful for the trust the Roald Dahl Story Company and the Dahl family have placed in our team to deliver more moments of shared joy to families around the world.”
We can’t wait to see our favorite childhood characters come to life on the screen!
