Meet the Non-Bridgerton Simone Ashley

The first season of the Netflix hit show “Bridgerton” came out with such a bang it was hard to miss. People everywhere were swooning over the Duke of Hastings and the love story building up between him and Daphne Bridgerton. Lady Wistledown and her regular updates on the noble matches were far more interesting than the actual news. It is not surprising, then, that another season was announced soon enough. As some of you may know, “Bridgerton” is based on a series of books, each one telling a story centered around one of the Bridgerton siblings, and the second book has big brother Anthony as its main protagonist. And since it’s a love story, he needs to have a love interest. Her name is Kate, and the one bringing her to life is actress Simone Ashley. But we aren’t here to spoil the show for you — just to tell you a little more about Ashley herself.

No to academics, yes to acting

Simone states that she grew up in a typical Indian household, full of typical Indian academics. Surrounded by engineers, accountants, and doctors, you’d expect her to have a similar career. However, she was always drawn to the more creative fields. Her father shared similar passions and her house always had music playing and an impressive collection of movies.

Give credit where it’s due

Simone started acting in 2016 with a small role in a series called “Wolfblood” and has had a steady rise in the field since. She got to work on the same set as Ryan Reynolds in “Pokémon Detective Pikachu”, and some of you might remember her as Olivia from “Sex Education,” another Netflix series.

She’s an open book

Just like most youngsters of our generation, Simone doesn’t shy away from social media. A quick scroll through her Instagram will teach you that she is a dog lover, that she is passionate about music, and that she clearly knows how to take a good selfie.
