Story Time
This game is also great for when you’re traveling with a child. The rules are fairly simple. One person starts a story with a sentence, and the people in the car all take turns adding to it. You can start with a baby elephant living in the jungle and end up with the elephant befriending a space-monkey and inventing electric bananas. Depending on the company you keep in the car, things can get pretty wild in no time.
I Spy With a Twist
“I Spy” is a classic road trip game for those of you who don’t know, the game involves one “spy” who spots an object in or around the car. (The item has to be visible to everyone else too.) Then the spy starts giving small clues about the identity of the object. Like the first letter, color, size, etc. until one person guesses correctly and becomes the new spy. While this classic is nothing new, there are ways to make it more interesting. For example, the clues given can be riddles! Like “I spy with my little eye something you use to find a fortune” (which would be the wheel.)
The Conspiracy Game
One of the car people gives the others a couple of seemingly unrelated topics, (like cats and calculators) and the others need to come up with a conspiracy theory to connect them — the wilder the better. (The reason why cats never use calculators is that they learned math in ancient Egypt and know how to do all the calculations by heart.)
