We’ve all been in that place where we’ve got dinner going, and we’re starving, and all we need to add is just that one last ingredient – but the jar won’t budge. This sounds like a job for your handy, dandy duct tape! Next time you can’t get those pickles to pop open for your (otherwise) amazing turkey sandwich, try this tip.
Just make sure you press the tape into the can very well at first, otherwise, it will just peel right back off. Now you can say goodbye to calling your partner or your next-door neighbor for some help, or even worse, deciding to ditch the pickles and have dinner without.
Aluminum Foil Dispenser
Nothing says "my life is together" more than having a DIY dispenser for your aluminum foil or plastic wrap roll. It sends a message that the very last of your concerns have been taken care of even if in real life you spent the last thirty minutes looking for a void to scream into.
You'll need a small tension rod to mount on the inside of your kitchen cabinets (or even inside one of your drawers). Once you have that, simply string a roll of foil on it. Stick-on plastic hooks can also work, as seen in the picture above.
DIY Room Divider
Lofts or studio apartments could use a nice dividing wall for when you feel like having some privacy. And the good news is that you don't need to get a contractor and mortgage your kidneys to set up a divider. What you need is a tension rod (duh) and a top-to-bottom curtain. This could also work for other spaces — large or small — that need some sort of division. After all, we all need a break from other people's faces sometimes.
The great thing about this hack is that you can also give it a personal touch. You can choose any color you want ( we are sure there are black ones out there), and you can hang all kinds of elements on to keep your little ones occupied while waiting for your to finish work from behind the curtain.
Paper Towel Rack
Spills aren't only limited to the kitchen, and your house floor has stains to prove it. If you have carpets in all bedrooms, they are bout to have numerous stains and marks all over, and it has been clinically proven that the sooner you wipe them, the less stainy they will remain.
So why not keep a crisp roll of paper towels in every room? That way, you can at least pretend to have the habits of a clean person. The way to do it would be to mount a short tension rod in the closet/cupboard of the desired room and string the roll on it. Can you hear that? It's the sound of you becoming a responsible adult.
DIY Mug Stand
Ah, coffee. Elixir of life, the nectar of gods. The one thing we will never part from and that will forever be our bff first thing in the morning. If coffee were a religion, we would be the first converts pledging our allegiance to those heavenly brown beans.
For now, the closest thing to a coffee shrine we can have is this DIY coffee mug station. You'll need a wooden box, some rods, and several S-hooks. After securing the box to the wall, mount the rods inside, hang the hooks, and then hang the mugs. Feel free to decorate and show your appreciation for the one thing you can't live without.
