Another New York gem, Lawrence is a village in New York state with a population of 6,500, among them Steve Madden, Donna Karan, Nancy McCartney, and the late Peggy Lipton. And when you get a look at the houses in this town, you won’t be surprised.
The beachside villas, sunset views, green landscapes, and friendly residents make Lawrence a great place to live. If you have about $3 million to buy a small house, that is.
Darien, Connecticut
Another Connecticut town that's worth visiting, or moving to, depending on your financial situation, is Darien. Darien is a small, wealthy town in which yachting is a very popular activity. That kind of says it all, doesn't it?
Conveniently enough, Darien is a 40-minute drive from Manhattan, which makes it perfect for New York City's wealthy businessmen. It is the smallest town on Connecticut's famous 'Gold Coast', and it has a number of country clubs, a boat club, a yacht club, and a hunting club. And two public beaches, which can be visited by non-residents, who already have a private beach in their $15 million houses.
Los Altos Hills, California
California is mentioned several times on this list, but its town of Los Altos Hills is definitely one of the wealthiest places in the state. Interestingly, the developers of Los Altos Hills decided they didn't want to create a commercial town full of stores and businesses, but instead make a quiet, luxurious space for rich Silicon Valley CEOs.
In fact, the town has strict policies that include a commercial ban on businesses operating within the town borders. There are only two stores in Los Altos Hills - a book shop and a gift shop. But with the $50 million price tag on the town's houses, we doubt residents need any stores at all. The houses probably come with integrated supermarkets.
North Caldwell, New Jersey
Many people will only know North Caldwell as the location of famous TV mobster Tony Soprano's infamous New Jersey mansion. Probably because David Chase, 'The Sopranos' creator, lived in North Caldwell. And while that is undoubtedly a fun fact to know about the town, there is much more to know about this special township.
The median home value in North Caldwell is over $700,000, which we guess is not that much when comparing it to places like Malibu, where the average house will run you a whopping $2 million. The downtown area is very picturesque, and the fact that there is beautiful nature around every corner is a huge plus.
Mill Valley, California
About 14 miles north of San Francisco lies the gorgeous little town of Mill Valley. Needless to say, the town is surrounded by lush forests, like most of the towns in California. And the mansions have a special, "cabin-in-the-woods" style that makes Mill Valley a very unique place to live.
There are countless nature trails, a good climate, and the legendary Bob Weir lives there! What else do you need to know?
