Your workout is one time you should definitely skip the makeup. Sarah Michelle Gellar did just that in this post-workout post, which she captioned, “This pic is #nomakeup #nofilter and probably the last time I will be upright for the rest of the week.” The actress is definitely rocking her endorphin high, and her skin is practically glowing.
As someone whose been in show business since she was in her teens, Gellar knows a little something about skincare. She told Us magazine that the “secret,” if you can call it that, is to never go to bed with makeup on, and always cleanse and moisturize. She also makes sure to drink plenty of water and washes her face before and after getting off a plane and during her lunch break on set.
Yara Shahidi
Star of "Grown-ish," Yara Shahidi’s face looks radiant. The young actress, Harvard student, and activist is well known for showing off her makeup-free face on social media. As you can see from this shot, her skin looks amazing, even with some blemishes, and she definitely knows how to catch the light.
Shahidi, who is half Iranian-American and half African-American, told Byrdie that her skincare is something she learned about from her heritage and her family. So, what should you do? According to Shahidi, adding cardamom and turmeric to your diet will do wonders for your skin.
Lady Gaga
In 2017, singer and Oscar nominee for her role in "A Star are Born," Lady Gaga celebrated her birthday with an enormous slice of cake and a makeup clean face. Another no-makeup milestone took place later that year while she was working on the acclaimed film with co-star Bradley Cooper.
Cooper and Gaga shared the story with the LA Times, they were getting ready to read scripts at her home, and she walked downstairs with a face full of makeup. Cooper, who also directed the film, said to her, “Take it off.” He proceeded to use a wipe to remove all of her makeup, asking Gaga to be “completely open” and with “no artifice.” This sentiment echoes some of the moments in the film and makes every romantic out there just a little emotional.
Britney Spears
It’s quite unusual to see Britney Spears without makeup, especially since she has to put on a show in Vegas almost every night. So how does the pop icon keep her skin smooth? Apparently, she is a big fan of toners.
She finds it especially important to use a good astringent toner before she moisturizes. Otherwise, she will break out. Spears, who is known for her intensive workouts, says that she has to keep her skin especially clean because of all the time she spends at the gym. Fitness fanatics take note.
Ke$ha
Just the act of putting yourself out there without makeup can sometimes be exactly what a person needs to feel good about themselves. That certainly seems to be true for Kesha. The singer went through a very difficult time in the public eye and has learned to love herself and the way she looks, including her freckles.
Kesha shared her resolutions for 2019 with her followers, writing that she wanted to “love me… just as I am…And to let my freckles liiiiiiive.” You can clearly see the journey she went through while reading her words to Vogue in 2015. She told the magazine she hoped to one day embrace every inch of her body and “not try to cover up with makeup.” She is bravely trying to do so, and so are many other celebrities on this list.
