The 8-track tapeis a magnetic tape sound-recording technology that was popular in the United States[2] from 1964 to 1988, when the Compact Cassetteformat took over.[3][4] The format is regarded as an obsolete technology, and was relatively unknown outside the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Japan
8 tracks are as obsolete as their replacements, cassette tapes, but especially obsolete are Boston 8 tracks.
