Believe it or not, in the 1970s, Prince Charles was considered one of the most eligible Royal bachelors around. No one knows if it's his natural charms or the fact that he was first in line to the throne, but he was desired by every respectful young woman alive.
When it was announced that he was engaged to Lady Diana Spencer, not only did it come as a surprise, but it was unwanted by many. Family and close friends couldn't see the connection between the two, which was not far from the truth.
The Many Ladies of Prince Charles
Prince Charles had a long history with other women before meeting Diana, and some believe this was one reason their marriage never really worked. This was also a key factor in one of the family's greatest secrets.
What hadn't been known would soon be revealed, and the black mark on the Windsors could never be erased. Charles's romantic decisions jeopardized his throne more than once, and if it wasn't for the queen, he might not have been the successor after all.
Where It All Began
He was born in Buckingham Palace in 1948 to Queen Elizabeth II, who was still just a princess, and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was a splendid toddler with no worries to his name, however, things were about to change.
He is known for many things and carries many titles, one of them being the first member of the royal family to enroll in a university. He studied at Cambridge and majored in anthropology, archaeology, and history.
Charles the Stud
When the dating years kicked in, the royal family wasn't fond of Charles's preferences. He was rebellious and was even described as being a stud who enjoyed dating many women, something unheard of when it came to the Windsors.
He was seeking to stand out and be different. He didn't want to be like all the other members of his family, however, deep inside, he acknowledged that his future was already set and written. In the meantime, his relationships kept adding fuel to the fire, and the flames were getting high.
And Then There Was Camilla
Camilla Rosemary Shand was one year older than Charles. Her father was a major in the British Army and she grew up surrounded by the prestigious elite society. Although she wasn't blood-related to the Windsors, she was somehow part of the British aristocracy.
She studied all over Europe and was considered well-educated and good marriage material. She was also the first woman to captivate and capture Prince Charles's heart.
The Great Escape
Charles and Camilla first met in 1970, they were both in their early twenties and both huge polo fans. The attraction was instant, and they began dating. As they wanted to avoid the public eye, they would often escape to the English countryside, hoping never to be found.
At first, it was a true fairytale with a real Prince Charming and his Princess, however, things were not all a Cinderella story, and soon enough, the two would have to go their separate ways.
In the Navy
Camilla was all Charles ever wanted. He was attractive, unthreatened by his known future, and shared his love of British nature. In 1971 it all came to an end. Charles was obliged to join the Royal Navy, and Camilla was left behind. Waiting for him wasn't an option, and the path of royal history was set.
It was Charles who initially suggested they break up. He knew the price of dating someone who served his nation overseas was going to be high, and he didn't want Camilla to pay it. Little did he know that she would pay a much higher price later in life.
Camilla Gets Married
Charles wasn't the only man in Camilla's life. Back in 1965, Camilla and Major Andrew Parker Bowles met. He was 25 years old, handsome and promising, while she was just 17, however self-assured and confident. They were at a party, he asked her to dance, and she fell madly in love.
While Charles was far sailing in the ocean, Andrew Parker Bowles proposed to Camilla, and she accepted. They married the following year, and while it was expected that Charles moves on and finds new love, the romance between the two hadn't seen its final days.
They Never Realy Said Goodbye
We know today that even though they married other people, the romance between Charles and Camilla never ended. Camilla did love her husband, however, she still had strong feelings for the future king.
With Charles, Camilla's shadow seemed to linger on for years, and it is known that there were three people in the marriage of Chalares and Diana. So how does Laura Lopes fit into this story?
A Fixed Marriage Was on the Line
The future queen of England couldn't just be anyone. Charles's mother, Queen Elizabeth II, had to approve, and when Amanda Knatchball was suggested, she plainly refused and said she had someone else in mind.
Lady Ruth Fermoy was the granddaughter of a very close friend of Elizabeth II. As far as the queen was concerned, she was the best match for Charles. Another good match was Lady Sarah Spencer, whose sister would eventually become the chosen one and change the royal family forever.
A Bride to Be
It was 1977 when Prince Charles and Lady Sarah Spencer began dating. At the same time, he met her younger sister, Lady Diana Spencer. Diana was just 16 at the time, still unaware of the future awaiting her.
You would have thought that such a scenario would have come between the two sisters, however, it didn't. They were so close and wouldn't let any Prince, future king or not, rock the boat.
First Date
1980 was a turning point in Charles's romantic life. That was the year he first asked Diana out on a date. Charles was having a rough time after tragically losing his beloved uncle Lord Mountbatten, however, he was comforted by Diana, and she was at his side.
Prince Phillip, Charles's father, was pressuring Charles into making a decision. He was the future king of England and the clock was ticking. Was it the pressure that made him take their relationship another step forward and lock the Camilla episode away for good? Who knows?
She Said an Early I Do
Diana was planning a trip to Australia, which Charles was aware of. He proposed before she was supposed to leave, assuming she would take advantage of her Australian break and think things carefully before giving an answer. Boy, was he wrong?
Diana replied sooner than expected, and before boarding the plane, she said yes. 1981 kicked in, and 19-year-old Diana was engaged to 31-year-old Charles, soon to be the King of England. The secret of the lost daughter was still unheard of.
A Cinderella Story
What started on July 1981 as a magnificent and enchanting wedding ceremony would soon become one of the world's most talked-about and influential relationships. Despite Diana's wishes, Camilla Parker Bowles was present at the wedding ceremony.
Not a year had passed by, and a new baby boy was born. Prince William came into the world, and two years later, his baby brother Harry joined the family. Besides standards and family issues, things were looking pretty typical for the extended Windsor family, however, a blast from the past was going to storm in.
The Beginning of the End
No one can say when things began to crumble down for Charles and Diana's marriage. Was it the age difference? Was it the fact that Charles wasn't completely over Camilla? Or was Diana growing up and trying to shed a strong light on her individuality, something almost impossible as a royal?
The fact that both Charles and Camilla were married to other people didn't stop them from exposing their passion for one another, making the Windsor household a little crowded. Diana did eventually confront Camilla, however, the latter replied by saying that Diana had everything she wanted. Everything but her husband.
There Was No Hiding Away
The day came when speculations became facts, and one phone conversation between Charles and Camilla was what eventually made their marriage collapse. There was no going back, and the relations between the Prince and the Princess were on the verge of a breakdown.
During the 1990s, Prince Charles's diaries were published, revealing all of his unfaithful ways. Adding on to that, Diana's medical condition was documented, too, painting her in a very different light than what she usually reflected.
Going Public
The famous interview Diana had on Panorama was the one that exposed it all. She out and loud blamed Camilla for her marriage falling apart, making over 23 million people glue themselves to the TV screens.
In 1995, the divorce was finalized, stripping Diana of her royal title and turning Charles available once again. Tragedy would hit the family and the entire British nation not too long after with Diana's catastrophic accident that ended her life.
First Step Towards Eternal Love
So who is this mysterious stepsister hiding away from the spotlight, never revealing her real truth? Still, in 1995 Camilla, surprisingly or not, filed for divorce. Charles and Camilla continued to meet under the radar as if 15 years hadn't flown by.
After what the royal family had been through, the last thing they needed was more attention. Charles kept his relations with Camilla away from the public eye, however, he did introduce her to his boys.
No Need for Hiding
Four years later, in 1999, Charles and Camilla exposed their love to the world. The public's reaction was one thing to handle, however, the queen's reaction was a much bigger deal. At that point, Queen Elizabeth refused to acknowledge her son's choice.
More than a year later, the queen would accept to be present in the same room with Charles and Camilla. And when she did eventually do so, it was her way of silently approving.
Wedding Bells Rang Again
35 years after they first met, Prince Charles married his Princess Camilla. Queen Elizabeth never attended. Did she know something we didn't? Prince William and Prince Harry were welcoming their father's wife into their lives too.
They were aware of their parents' history, and they knew all about the gossip and the past each one of them carried, however, they weren't prepared for everything this new package would bring with it. Camilla wasn't the only new person they were welcoming into their lives.
The Extended Family
Rewind back to the 1970s. While Charles was still dating Diana's sister, Camilla was planning a family of her own. In 1978 she had a baby girl, who would eventually become Prince William and Prince Harry's step-sister and the stepdaughter of the future king of England.
Laura Parker Bowles. We suppose you've never heard of her. She has worked very hard to keep herself out of the spotlight and away from the tabloids. She had traveled the world, owned some art galleries in London, and has a pretty calm and fulfilled existence. Having said that, there has always been something missing in her life.
The Famous Four
During their younger years, Laura and her brother Tom have had their share of tumultuous relations within their family. They managed to keep away from the headlines, however, Harry and William were not exactly their preferred cup of tea.
Apparently, William and Harry blamed Laura and Tom for their parents' devastated marriage. They were barely communicating, and things weren't looking good for the future relationship between the lot.
Growing Pains
The years went by, and they all grew up, learning that not everything you read is related to the truth and that there is more to what went on between their parents than they will ever know and understand.
The first sign that things were improving between Laura and her two stepbrothers was when the most exciting royal wedding of the 2000s was coming up. William was about to marry Kate Middleton, the mark of a new era.

Laura joined her mother, Camilla, Kate, and Pippa (Kate's sister) for a pre-wedding brunch. This may seem like an ordinary thing to do, however, it meant the world to Laura. At that brunch, someone overheard Camilla say something that nobody could ignore.

Eliza, Laura's daughter, was asked to be one of Kate's bridesmaids, and from that moment onwards, all of the tension and issues they had in the past crumbled down, streamed calmly, and eventually disappeared. Having said that, Laura still had problems with her extended family she had to solve.
They Will Never Be Part
A big difference exists between being born into and marrying into the royal family. Laura and Tom were married into the family and therefore were always looked at with a different eye. Blue blood was not running down their veins; who knows what they brought into the monarchial clan with them.
Tom, Laura's brother, explained in one interview how complicated and awkward it can get sometimes. He said that Camilla, their mother, married into the family, however, they just tagged along behind and are considered being simply common children whose mother happens to be married to the next inline for the throne.
Will They Show Up?
In 2018, when Harry and Meghan's wedding was coming up, it was wondered if Tom and Laura would make a grand appearance and finally be seen. Everyone wanted to get a glimpse at them, as they were in fact, the stepbrother and sister of Prince William and Prince Harry.
They both arrived at the wedding, however, they insisted on staying as low-key as they could. Trying to avoid the royal family label was one thing, but respecting the event and attending their brother's big day was another.
Forever Will Be
Laura Lopes may be one of the quiet members of the extended royal family, but the fact is that the monarchy is part of her whether she likes it or not. She successfully manages to hide from the press and the tabloids and brings up her family privately and modestly.

Tag, You’re It
Meghan Markle is one of the most talked-about women in the world, and she’s always in the public eye when she’s, well, out in public. People keep a close watch on what she’s wearing, which is how they’re able to notice when something is a little off. And on this day, when she and the prince arrived in Tonga in 2018, something was a little off — she forgot to remove the tags on her new Self Portrait dress.
She reportedly chose the bright red number to match both the flag of the country and the carpet, of course. But as lovely as she looked, the (crazy expensive) tag was a little distracting as it blew in the wind.
Slip-Off Slippers
One of the most important things about being out in public as a woman in the royal family is being able to carry yourself with grace through any and all situations – even when something happens that’s beyond your control. And that’s exactly what Denmark’s Princess Mary did when the heel of her pumps got wedged into a crack on the sidewalk during one of her events.
She simply slid out of the shoe, gracefully lowered herself to pick it up, and had one of her men assist her while she put it back on. Then, she moved right back along with her day like it never happened. Way to handle a tricky situation, princess!
Windy City
Well if this doesn’t look like a scene right out of some action movie with Tom Cruise in it (hello, Top Gun) we don’t know what does. Unfortunately for the Princess, the moment was all too real when the skirt of her yellow Jenny Packham dress decided to go along with the wind in front of these Canadian Air Force soldiers.
They probably didn’t mind at all, but the truth is that having to hold your dress down throughout a windy day is quite a pain. Maybe next time she’ll opt for a pencil skirt or something that stays in place a little better. And hey, at least her hair looked amazing!
Off With Her Hat
The late Queen was no doubt one of the most perpetually composed women on the face of the planet. It seems as though she was always pulled together wherever she went. Of course, she was also human and things happend that she couldn't always avoid.
Take for instance this day back in 1979, when the wind decided to pick her hat up and try and carry it off on a wild ride. But the Queen was able to catch it before it completely blew off of her head. Who knew she had such cat-like reflexes?
Moving On
This night, at King Constantine of Greece’s 70th birthday bash, The late Queen ran into a few small issues with her wardrobe – none of which were at any fault of her own. First, someone spilled coffee on her. Yes, someone spilled coffee on The Queen.
But she stood up, braving the paparazzi, and moved right along, on her way to a change of course. But on her way out, the strap of her handbag broke! Needless to say, it just wasn’t her night. Though she took it all in stride and brushed it off.
Tripping
It can’t be easy gliding around in heels and gowns through all sorts of public appearances all of the time. But royal family members make it seem like it is – most of the time, anyways. And then there are other times, like the one in the photo below, when Queen Sophia of Spain found herself face-to-face with the floor after tripping over the bottom of her dress.
But as any Queen would do, she stood right back up and brushed her dress off and went along with her evening.
All Stuck Up
The women of the royal families must have calluses the size of Texas on their feet from wearing heels everywhere they go. And, as uncomfortable as they can be, they can also cause accidents, like when the princess’ heel got stuck in this drainage hole.
The snafu happened during the opening event for her non-profit rehabilitation treatment center. Luckily for Kate, Prince Charming rushed to her aid and helped her straighten things out before the situation escalated to her falling down.
Nudes
Princess Beatrice wound up exposing a bit more of herself than she would have liked at a 2017 V&A party that she co-hosted with sister Eugenie. She wore a black lacy dress from Self-Portrait that had a nude lining underneath which rode up without her awareness and exposed her nude-colored undergarments.
This brand is quite popular with the royal ladies. Maybe there’s something they could do to hook the lining to the lace a bit more so that these types of malfunctions wouldn’t happen. Errors aside, though, the princess still looked lovely in the lacy number.
Peek-a-Boo
The former Duchess of Sussex gave cameras more than they bargained for (although they were more than willing to accept) when she and the prince were leaving a good friend’s wedding in Frensham, Surrey. It was also right around the time the duchess was celebrating her 37th birthday, so the crowd burst into (the birthday) song at one point to wish her well. When she noticed the mishap, she pulled her navy dress over a bit and shrugged it off.
Although this, like some of the other royal wardrobe blunders, has caused speculation that they’re intentionally doing some of these things. Because if it was a mistake – it was a pretty racy one to make. Not very ladylike, but we’re not complaining.
Iconic Movie Moment
Kate Middleton found herself seeing through the eyes of Marilyn Monroe when her Emilia Wickstead dress blew up in a gust of wind in front of a crowd of people. The moment happened at the National War Memorial in India.
She fought with the wind throughout the majority of the royal tour and can be seen trying to hold her dress down – unsuccessfully, of course! Fortunately, she kept her composure and simply pat it back down each time it tried escaping gravity.
Whoops
While most of the wardrobe mishaps on this list happened at no fault of the actual royal, the same can’t be said for this one. While in Birmingham with the prince in 2018, the duchess wore a new tailored J. Crew coat that looks a little – stiff. That’s because she didn’t remove the X-stitch that holds the bottom of the coat together to hold the vent together before it’s sold. But it is supposed to be taken out before it's worn.
Although, as much as fashionistas may have noticed the faux pas, it didn’t seem to bother the masses, who ended up buying so many of the coats that J. Crew was sold out.
Gender Equality
After all the times the wind has come for the royal women and left them exposed to prying eyes and camera lenses, it’s only fair that it happens to the men, too. The prince had his coattails blown up in the wind, just as he was bending over to help move this floral arrangement.
The combination of the wind and awkward pose made the photo look a bit unflattering. Although unlike the women in skirts and dresses, the prince wasn’t risking exposing himself, at least.
Whoopsie Daisy
Camilla, Queen Consort, is known for her big heart. She is the patron of several non-profit organizations, including Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Trinity Hospice, and Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centers. But she’s also known for having a sleek sense of fashion. This was still true on this day, but the wind got to her and caused the skirt of her dress to fly up during this public appearance.
At the same time, her hat kept trying to blow off of her head. But, like most royals, she remained composed and simply held them down and kept moving.
Singing the Blues
This is another one of those “mishaps” that more than likely was done intentionally. It would be very hard to not notice that the top of your skirt was entirely sheer. Did she not look at herself in a mirror before she walked out of the house?
And one of her staff would have surely told her they could see her underwear before she left? And then there’s the fact the underwear is a pair of matching briefs. Hey, in any case, the Givenchy outfit looks great on her – but there’s no way she didn’t know it was sheer.
Hello, Legs
Kate doesn’t usually show off so much of her long legs, and she wasn’t planning on it this day, either, but the weather had other plans in mind. A supporter was handing her this bouquet just as it happened, or she likely would have been able to catch her dress before the wind carried it upwards, exposing her thighs to the cameras (and the happy guys behind them.)
This mishap all went down in 2013, so she’s had plenty more experience saving herself from these embarrassing moments.
All Tangled Up
Since the majority of royal family members on this list are women, it’s nice to see that these things can happen to the men, too. Kate Middleton laughs along with King Charles as his wife, Camilla Queen Consol, works to help untangle his gloves.
He doesn’t look too bothered by the whole thing either. In fact, he looks like he’s laughing about it a little bit. At least they got things straightened out in the end.
Tying the Knot
Kate has become the unspoken master of fixing her wardrobe before anyone notices when it malfunctions. The cameras caught her in the midst of tying her dress back together after the knot on the front began to slip undone.
Luckily, it was only decorative, not functional, so she was never at risk of exposure. Better safe than sorry though, duchess.
Stepped Out and Stepped On
Meghan Markle probably wasn’t thinking about dragging the bottom of her Burberry wide-legged wool pants on the ground when she decided to wear them, but she needs to get them tailored if she’s planning to wear them out again. It doesn’t help that the ground is wet from the rain, either, so you know they’re dirty.
Can you imagine what they would be like if she were wearing flats? You’d think that royals would try on their outfits and have someone inspect them before they walked out of the house. It’s not like they can’t afford to have personal tailors waiting on them hand and foot.
Pull Those Pants Up
Seeing the Princess at a sporting event, like at this basketball game in 2016, seems even more special than just seeing her out and about in her regular dress and pumps. That’s because we get to see her dressed in her casual wear, which isn’t something that happens very often. Of course, royal casual still means looking very put together, but here you see her sporting a pair of blue jeans and a t-shirt with a nice jacket.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t quite get the jeans to stay in place, and she didn’t think about that when she was getting dressed so she forgot to put on a belt. That all made for a pretty uncomfortable afternoon of adjusting and readjusting her jeans. It’s too bad the one day she gets to dress down she has to deal with a bad fit.
Holey Moley
You’ve heard the expression, “loved them so much he wore holes right through them,” right? Well, it became an expression because it’s true. When you love a pair of shoes so much that you wear them constantly, you’re going to cause holes in the soles from the wear and tear – hence this big mark in the bottom of the prince’s shoe.
There’s no way the duchess could have known he was going to be wearing old shoes that day, to their friend’s wedding, or else she would have made him put on a new pair. It’s understandable that he wanted to be comfortable, but now he knows that the bottoms of his feet can wind up in the tabloids, too.
10 Little Piggies
Any woman who’s ever worn heels for more than a few hours of her life knows the discomfort they can cause after being on your feet all day. That’s why during a wedding, or an occasion where people end up dancing, ladies will usually wind up with their shoes off by the end of the night. Well, Kate may not have been hitting the dance floor, but her poor feet just couldn’t handle being stuffed in those pointy-toed heels anymore.
So, she did what any other woman on the planet would do – she took them off! Then again, every other woman on the planet isn’t royalty being chased around by the paparazzi all day, so it’s a toss-up as to whether we would have taken them off or not.
Hold Down the Skirt
Kate Middleton’s little sis, Pippa, was out for a fun afternoon of watching some matches at Wimbledon, so of course, she went with a light-colored mini skirt – to match the ladies on the court, no doubt. But when their skirts fly up – they’ve got shorts underneath; which Pippa wasn’t fortunate enough to have when a gust of wind blew her skirt up for cameras.
But their reflexes were no match for Pippa’s, who was able to grab it and hold it down just in time for the flash. Nice moves, sister!
Kilting It
Wearing kilts is a tradition for males that dates back to the 1600s in Scotland, and carries on today, largely as part of ceremonies and entertainment. But there’s a reason why a lot of men don’t go flapping around in these skirted garments – namely because of all the flapping around. If and when they are worn, it’s up to the person wearing them to be cautious of how they move to avoid overexposing themselves to any onlookers.
Well, the late Duke of Edinburgh got so caught up in the excitement around him that he forgot to keep his legs in the correct position. For anyone else, this may seem like a huge fail, but for Prince Phillip, it was a win! It shows that he was brave enough to do things in his own way.
Rain, Rain, Go Away
Camilla Queen Consol was trying to protect her hair during a stormy day. But she wasn’t exactly having an easy time doing so. At least she had an umbrella with her. Unfortunately, she was wrestling with it for a few minutes. Two of her staff members had to help her get it straightened out, but by then it had already brushed up against her hair.
Maybe next time she’ll opt for a poncho instead. Luckily it doesn’t look like it’s raining all too hard at that point. But her hair is already feeling the damage, either way.
Expecting Some News
When you’re a celebrity-turned-royal, people read into your outfits – maybe a little too much. When Meghan wore this long cream-colored coat that tied around the waist, people for some reason thought that it meant she was pregnant. Why? That’s an excellent question.
The couple did, however, reveal some exciting news that day: Meghan Markle was going to marry the prince. What does a white coat have to do with pregnancy, anyways?
Blown Away
Kate’s blowout in these pics is evidence of her recent trip to the salon – possibly to get her bangs trimmed. Then again, she may just get a blowout every day just because she can. But she had no idea that the weather was going to be working so hard against her afterward.
She just couldn’t win; it was blowing her newly styled hairdo in all different directions. The princess tried her best to keep it under control with her hand but to no avail. Finally, she threw in the towel and just let it do its own thing.
Step Off
People may think that royals have red carpets thrown down for them everywhere they go in their $1,000 shoes, but judging by Meghan Markle’s muddy heel, that’s not the case. It looks like she sunk into some grass walking around just like the rest of us.
And while it makes her seem very relatable, it also begs the question – didn’t she have an extra pair of shoes? There should always be an extra pair of shoes.
Cold Shoulders
Queen Rania of Jordan is known for her sense of style, among other things of course. She turns heads in almost anything she wears, but on this particular evening, she caught a bit more attention than she was hoping for. Her black off-the-shoulder dress kept sliding down, even more so than it was supposed to be doing.
She spent the night tugging the material back up to keep from showing too much skin. The Queen most likely opted for a different style of dress for a while afterward. One that didn’t require so much of her time and energy.
Forgetful
The duchess gets so excited about wearing some of her new pieces that she doesn’t even remember to remove the tags. When Meghan Markle stepped out in this sleek pencil dress with her brown leather bag, she had no idea she was carrying around a few unwanted guests. Check out the bottom of the handbag.
Yep, those are the little plastic bits they put on to protect it from being scuffed before it’s sold. Either she forgot to take them off or she had no idea she was supposed to.
About Face
At first glance, it may seem as though Kate is rocking this bright purple button-down, and indeed she is, just not the way the designer intended for it to be worn. She later discovered, right along with the rest of us, that the buttons were actually supposed to go in the back and the bow in front.
And if that mistake could happen to the fashion-forward duchess, it could happen to anyone. No matter the mix-up, she still pulled off the look until she found out and turned it around. Honestly, it looks just as good on her with the bow in front.
Oh, Diana
Photos of Princess Diana’s dresses were plastered on the front page of magazines before Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton were out of diapers. And that includes this dress; her iconic wedding gown, which had a lengthy train and puffy shoulders, along with a veil that competed with her train in length.
But of course, when her day came to walk down the aisle, the wind picked up and blew all parts of the dress all over the place. She still looked amazing in the dress, which is valued at nearly half a million.
Morning Workout
This picture is the perfect example of how stylish Princess Di was, and how true she was to herself regardless of what people thought. In this photo, she is seen leaving her health club after a morning workout. Now, we are sure she wasn't expecting a strong wind to accompany her down the road, blow her coat up and reveal her workout clothes (and her gorgeous legs).
Princess Di was beloved for many things, mainly being the “People’s Princess,” but also for being a fashion icon. So, it’s only fitting that she would just carry on walking and pretend nothing has happed, (and also forget that her private secretary resigned one day before this photo was taken).
Stairway to Heaven
Well, poor Kate has been on this list more than almost everyone else – and for things that aren’t really her fault, like the wind. She’s been caught in a windy situation more than a few times, like here, when she and the rest of the family were getting off of the plane in New Zealand in 2014.
She was able to hold it down so that she didn’t show the cameras too much, but you would also think at this point that she would have hired a stylist to figure out how to style her in things that don’t leave her flashing the entire world in a gust of wind.
The Revenge Dress
Princess Di was known for being a royal rule breaker. Take dress codes, for instance. This racy number definitely isn’t something you would see a royal running around in.
In 1994, after Charles admitted to having an affair, the princess made a very public statement during an appearance when she showed up in this. It was later dubbed “the revenge dress,” a name that stuck and still lives on to this day.
Losing a Shoe
Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, consort of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of the United Arab Emirates always looks sleek and sophisticated when she steps out. Unfortunately, on this day, she missed one of those steps when her heel twisted on the pavement and caused her to slip out of her shoe.
It seems as though she caught herself before it caused her to do anything more than stumble.
Dragging Dress
When Kate put on this lovely dress, she probably wasn’t thinking about the fact that it may drag on the ground. Although, if she tried it on, then she had to have known it was a tad long.
And what happens when you cross high heels with a dress that’s too long? Aside from tripping over your feet, getting the bottom of the dress dirty. Let’s hope she got changed before any damage occurred.
When You’ve Got an Itch
Okay, so the title of this image is misleading, but then again, so is the image itself. While at first glance it may seem as though the princess had an itch she had to scratch – she’s actually holding her dress down.
Well, she’s trying to hold her dress down. The wind was pretty rough this day and yet, here she is in a lightweight skirt that stands no chance against mother nature.
Blackamoor Brooch
Princess Michael of Kent came under fire in 2017 after she showed up to lunch at Buckingham Palace, in which Meghan Markle was in attendance, wearing this brooch. “Blackamoor” style jewelry is widely considered to be culturally insensitive, and she received backlash via social media for her poor choice of accessories.
She later apologized and claimed that she’d received the brooch as a gift and “worn it many times before.” Um, okay?
Banana Slit
Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark always turns heads in her choice of attire, but necks on this day were particularly strained. The combination of high winds mixed with a coat with not enough buttons made her appearance look quite awkward.
Luckily, she kept her composure, pretended nothing has happened and carried on waving her royal wave. She definitely held it together. Both herself and her coat. That’s what being a princess is all about though, right?
Blue Suede Cracked Shoes
Ever since the world was introduced to Kate’s sister, Pippa, she’s been popping up in the media almost as much as big sis. But on this day, her fashion choices surprised everyone. That’s because she got caught with holy soles.
Yep, her blue suede shoes were cracked, which isn’t something anyone who knows Pippa is used to seeing from the fashionista. Then again, it was the sole, so it’s possible it just happened before she was able to change her shoes.
PETA V. Princess
Whether or not you find this to be a fashion faux pas depends on how you feel about people wearing animal products. But regardless of how you feel, we can all agree that PETA has some very strong feelings against the senseless killing of animals for fashion.
And they decided to voice those opinions directly to the princess after she was caught wearing these Restelli Guanti possum fur gloves.
Plastics
At first glance, it looks like the Duchess has everything pulled together in the outfit she has on, and she does – even more than you know. When you zoom in on her feet, you can see her gel cushion inserts peeking out of her Tabitha Simmons pumps.
After the photo was taken, she revealed that she uses the inserts frequently to make standing in high heels for long periods of time more comfortable.
Not Up to Code
Meghan Markle showed up to enjoy the matches at Wimbledon just a few days after Princess Kate. But there was a problem. It seems Markle had violated the tournament’s dress code – no jeans.
Because she didn’t follow the code, her group wasn’t allowed to sit in the royal box. Maybe next year she’ll opt for Ponte pants?
Play the Game
We've all been there, but just not on this public scale. Kate Middleton and Prince William were being toddlers for a while, during their visit to Barry Island, South Wales. The fun and excitement only a child can understand, swept the two away, forgetting for a moment their real roles and duties in life.
Now, on one hand, why not? We all need a break every now and then, and there's nothing like an amusement park to do these things, but on the other hand, have these two forgotten that they are the future king and queen of England?
Royal Manners
Even though they go through years of professional etiquette training and have virtually infinite resources, members of the royal family somehow still manage to hamper their reputation from time to time.
Take Prince Harry here, who sneakily ate a hamburger while sitting behind his brother. Not very royal-like!
Having Fun on the Rink
Before she became Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton liked to have fun, maybe a little too much fun! We see her here careless skating on the floor at a rollerskating rink.
We don't get to see her this like this nowadays. Maybe she's just taking resting a bit from all the exercise.
Not Very Becoming
During their visit to the Sandringham Flower Show, King Charles and CamillaQueen Consol pretty much lost all their composure when an eagle excitedly started flapping its wings.
Luckily, a cameraman was standing nearby and managed to take a photo of their funny facial expressions!
She Really Likes David Beckham
This photograph was taken, in June 2018 at the late Queen's Young Leaders Programme, which was not the first time Queen Elizabeth had met David Beckham.
But despite the aforementioned, she still struggled to conceal her excitement. Just look at that grin.
An Unfortunate Ending
Despite her efforts, Princess Diana couldn’t keep her relationship with Charles working. The two are photographed here looking very displeased and we can only imagine the tension between them.

The Answer Is Blowing in the Wind
Now, we know that in most parts of the world, June is a relatively hot month, with nice breezes and no unexpected showers and strong winds. Honey, sorry to say but you did marry an Englishman. And wherever the Englishman goes, the weather follows. This photo was taken in June 2014, at some ceremony, and Meghan wishes it wasn't.
So, Meghan, we would suggest that whenever your visit the UK (if they invite you), remember to tie up your hair. These photos are not exactly on the flattering side.

No, not even Her Majesty could avoid the occasional mistake. The usually well-composed monarch had been captured on cameras, making funny faces, like the one pictured here.
But she was really embarrassed when a photo surfaced of her seemingly picking her nose at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Dear queen, this act of yours didn't seem to be royal at all.
Is Everything OK Down Under?
So, the royal prince of Denmark, Prince Frederick alongside Princess Mary (of Denmark) were attending a royal visit to Melbourne, Australia, also known as the land down under. What Prince Fredrick didn't quite comprehend, is that the term 'down under' refers to the land itself.
So, does the prince have any other excuses for checking out things under the chair? Under his pants? Under his commonsense? Aren't royals guided before making public appearances?
King Charles the DJ
KingCharles might want to be a DJ, as awkward as this photo is for us to look at, it must have been way more awkward for him to pose for this photo.
It's safe to say that he doesn't fit in here, not only because of his tailored suit but also his confused demeanor.
Driving Around Town
The late Queen used to like to drive around town, and back in 2017, she caused an internet storm when she was photographed driving a Jaguar home from church.

Don't Show Me That
We can't help but feel curious about what Prince William was showing his father. Both sons look on with glee but King Charles does not look pleased!
With two sons, we don't doubt that it was something quite mischievous, but this photo does show us how relatable the royal family really is!
The Queen Pulls Another Funny Face
Here we see the late queen pulling another funny face, she was obviously not expecting the cameras to be watching her so closely.
She should have known by then that every move she made was being closely watched when she was out in the public.
Sniffing Carrots
These carrots look really fresh, which may be why King Charles felt the need to sniff them but unfortunately he was caught on camera.
As a member of the royal family, we didn't expect to see him sniffing carrots.
Keep Your Tongue to Yourself, Young Lady!
Children growing up within the palace walls have to adapt at a young age not only to the rules and manners all children are taught but also to the ways the royals are expected to follow.
In this photo, you can see that the basic manners of keeping your tongue in your mouth have gone by Princess Charlotte like a fresh breeze, and she doesn't really care if it's acceptable or not. Grandad Michael Middelton wasn't too impressed by the little royals' expression.
Cleaning the Windows
Always rely on your elder siblings to show you how it's done. Prince George and Princess Charlotte didn't waste any time on Prince Louis's first birthday and demonstrated what to do when the windows haven't been cleaned properly. Even in Buckingham palace, the cleaners have given up on the kids.
So, if you happened to pass by the palace in April 2019, and saw three little kids glued to the windows, no worries. It was simply George and Charlotte giving little Louis the first lesson of window cleaning before stepping out and waving to the crowds.
I Like Chocolate Ice Cream
Small details are what differ a good photographer from a great photographer. The photographer here happened to catch the exact moment you're indulging yourself with a delicious scoop of your favorite chocolate icecream.
Prince William, why don't you learn from your beautiful and obviously wiser bride? Next time, stick to having the ice cream in a cup. Licking it off a spoon will be far more complementing than the face your pulling off here.

Would you believe it if we told you that members of the royal family are forbidden from eating certain foods in public? This includes pasta, foie gras, and all seafood. Yes, you hear me, no pasta for dinner. To take in and cope with all hassle of being a public figure and then being unable to treat yourself to a bowl of plain, unnutritious carbs?
Kate Middleton breaks the rules every now and then enjoying moments of oyster sucking in public. After seeing what sucking in public looks like, we start to understand why the limitations were set in the first place.
One Scoop for Me Will Do
In July 2017, Camilla Queen Consol, visited the cities of Devon and Cornwall, the southern western shores of England. This place is one of England's favorite tourist spots and is famously known for its dairy products and ice creams in particular.
So apparently, the trip's schedule and agenda weren't completely clarified to Camilla as nowhere was it scheduled that there would be free time to sit on your backside and stuff yourself with ice cream. No matter how good the ice cream was.
Tell Me What You Want, What You Really Really Want
The late 1990s were Girl Power days with the Spice Girls telling everyone what they want. Even King Charles was up to date with the mainstream music of the time and showed up to the Spice World premiere where he received no less than the royal treatment.
Charles does look slightly uncomfortable with what appears in front of him, he didn't rush off to find his seat or mingle with another crowd so we assume, something attracted him after all.
Human After All
If you followed the Netflix masterpiece "The Crown", King Charles's childhood traumas did not go unnoticed by the viewers, explaining the character he has grown to be. Charles was never one to express emotion in public, just like his parents and grandparents.
Monarchy has adapted itself to the 21st century, making it impossible for future kings and queens to be as distant as one would think they should. We can see in this photo, real laughter, sourced from real emotion. Not sure Charles is quite ready for this though.
I Knew I Forgot Something
This photo amuses us, and it only emphasizes how this world can sometimes be unfair, and how not everyone has the same opportunities in life. let alone the same amount of money.
So, prince Harry can afford to have a polo manager who cleans his glasses whenever needed, but he can't afford to buy a simple roll-on deodorant? Unfair we tell you. We have never forgotten to buy deodorant. Never.
Window Screening
Trans-Atlantic flights have never been an easy thing, especially when traveling with kids. On one of the royal family's trips to Canada, Prince George was caught red-handed, squashing his precious face onto the plane's window.
Prince George has become a journalist favorite as he can almost always guarantee to provide an unexpected, funny, and nonroyal photograph.
Dirty Dancing
On a cold winter's night, Sarah Ferguson went to watch "Dirty Dancing" at the Aldwych Theater in London. The last thing that was on Sarah's mind was the way she would look in one of the paparazzi photos.
Another royal photo some wished would never have reached the tabloids. In our opinion, she looks as if she has had a little too much to drink before getting into the car. Maybe she thought it would make the old classic better, and Patrick Swayze sweeter.
Commonwealth Cricket
Royals have this thing with participating in sports activities when traveling on duty. It's become like part of the agenda that can't be changed or altered. On one of Kate Middleton's trips to New Zealand, she joined a cricket game.
So, we can see that Middelton practiced the right position for standing, assuring she doesn't reveal any surprises. However, it's a shame she missed out on the how-to-keep-your-face-in-place lessons, as that could have avoided this photo.
Here We Go Again
Baby George (he's not a baby anymore, but he was when this photo was taken), is a star when it comes to providing the royal photographs exactly what they want. No pretending, no artificial looks, just pure and authentic honesty.
Even in this photo, we can see how unsatisfied Prince George is with the future that awaits him, and how he would have preferred to be born into a normal hard-working lower middle class. Eh, he'll grow out of it.
At Least You Could Have Put Your Hat on
Prince William and Kate Middleton are doing everything they can to provide their three children with the most normal upbringing they possibly can. They read stories to their children before bedtime, they cook meals together and they take part in child-parent days at school.
They even embarrass their children, just like any other parent would, by exposing their bald head to all instead of putting on a hat in honor of the London Marathon they were training for. At the end of the day, all parents are alike.
Small Things in Life
We sometimes have a feeling, the Queen has had it. Even though this specific photo was taken a few decades ago, even then it looked as if she has had it with palace rules, with what's royal enough and what's not, and with not being able to feel free to do whatever she wanted whenever and wherever.
I mean, what does one want in life? A tranquil oasis to sit a bite your nails peacefully?

In British royal weddings, there is the grand finale moment, everyone waits for. The newlyweds step out onto Buckingham palace's balcony, and while the crowd roars and cheers, they show their affection with a first royal kiss. Now, how sticky is that?
When Prince William and Kate Middleton were married, they stepped out, traditionally kissed, and realized someone else what the center of attention. The little princess couldn't resist pulling a face, begging for the royal couple to get it over and done with.
Nicole Kidman Mania
Have you ever bumped into one of your favorite movie stars or musicians in a meeting that left you absolutely gobsmacked? Well, Prince William surely has and didn't insist on camouflage.
In 2011 he attended BAFTA's Brits to Watch Event in Los Angeles where he met Nicole Kidman. He was so overwhelmed (or maybe just Britishly polite), and the photographs from that event are definitely ones to keep in the draw.
Brother Star Wars
Prince William and Prince Harry are two huge 'Star wars' fans. They have visited movie sets, own practically every piece of merchandise available (well, they can afford it), and the rumor is, they made cameos for the 2016 "The Last Jedi".
Now, we think it's great that the two princes were privileged to try out the ner swords, we really do. But we are talking about the future king of England here. He doesn't look serious enough for that role to us, don't you think?
Never Talk to Strangers
Throughout our childhood years, we are told over and over again never to talk to strangers. Even if we are offered candy, we never talk to people we don't know. Prince Harry obviously hasn't fully acknowledged that yet.
No wonder this little girl is showing you exactly what she thinks. She has internalized what she had learned and does not talk to strangers. And it was unnecessary treating her likewise, Harry.
Royal Mojito
We don't blame King Charles for thinking of the future and checking out other occupation options here. We just never thought in a million years bartending was an option.
In 2019, while visiting Cuba, Charles received royal training covering mojito making. He ground sugar canes from scratch and assured that no matter what the future lies for him, he was never at risk of being unemployed. There were hundreds of bars awaiting.
80th Royal Birthday
On every birthday, and especially round ones, HRM Queen Elizabeth used to have a parade in her honor, and she would pass by the crowds collecting flowers and gifts. The children cheered and presented her with the crafts they prepared for her. If only her majesty would have invested a little time not only in planning the parade but also in her facial expressions.
Yes, we understand the cutout image of you doesn't really resemble your face and we know it wouldn't be hung alongside the great monarch's portraits in the palace, but the poor kid worked so hard. The least you could do is pretend.
Frankly My Dear, I Don’t Give a Damn
So, things with your inlaws went all pear-shaped, and they didn't really send you on your way with a blessing, but we do expect a little maturity when it comes to expressing yourself out in the public.
